On the evening of February 15, Kamila Valieva appeared on the field to perform an individual test after being allowed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The 15-year-old girl tried to hold back the tears to complete the exam, but couldn't.

However, Valieva still has a good test to lead the qualifying round with 82.16 points, of which technical points are 44.51 and performance points are 37.65. This score is still far behind her world record of 90.45, set at the European Championships last month.

Valieva planned to do 3 jumps 3 laps, but then only completed the last 2 jumps. Even so, her grace and precise footwork helped her score 82.16 to take the lead in qualifying.

Valieva won the right to the final, which took place on February 17. However, the medal ceremony will not be conducted if she is in the top 3. This is the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after meeting with member countries.

Valieva was confirmed positive for banned substances after she helped the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) win gold in the women's team event on February 7, while the sample was taken on December 25, 2021. The team event medal ceremony was cancelled.

Valieva's case was appealed to CAS by the International Inspection Agency (ITA), but CAS sided with the Russian female campaigner. They argued that the announcement of the positive result so late was not Valieva's fault and she was allowed to continue to compete in the Beijing Olympics.

However, Valieva's case is not over yet. There will be more investigations from WADA and IOC to reach a final conclusion. If Valieva is pure, then the IOC will organize medal ceremonies for events where she won medals at the Beijing Olympics.
